Tomah Memorial Hospital S.T.A.R. WORKS program offers:

Benefits of a Complete Industrial Program:

Audiology
An Occupational Hearing Conservation Service including baseline and pre-employment audiograms as well as re-checks. Services include special education and training on noise exposure risks, as well as employee education on proper use and fit of hearing protection.

Pre-Employment Physicals
Physical examinations include DOT physicals, pre-placement examinations and post accident evaluations, as well as Hazmat and Fitness for Duty physicals.

Laboratory Services - A Standard of Proficiency
Drug Collections - Pre-placement, Post Accident, Random and Return to Duty Drug Collections are part of a full line of laboratory services offered at Tomah Memorial Hospital.

The Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR 40) and general industry consensus has determined the need for a program providing collection personnel with the training to become proficient in urine specimen collection for drug testing in the work place. Such a program will aim to ensure that the collection is performed in a professional and consistent manner, maintaining confidentiality for the donor and security, integrity and control of the specimen.

Both the Laboratory staff and the staff of the Community Outreach Program have completed a DATIA (Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association) Approved Professional Collector Training Course. Drug Collections are provided both in-house and on-site as needed.

Functional Capacity Evaluations
Functional Capacity Evaluations are a five hour standardized test over two days to assist in quantifying how much a person can functionally do. Areas tested include various lifts at different weight levels, pushing, pulling, carrying, climbing, walking, crawling, rotating, bending, tolerance of standing, sitting and elevated work and coordination tests. This is used to provide information for return to work parameters or to aid in establishing disability levels.

Job Analysis
Specialized assessments of the work environment with a focus on identifying potential workplace hazards.

Industrial Rehabilitation
Complete rehabilitation of injured workers including education, acute management, progression to specialized work conditioning and transition of getting back to the work force.

Pre-Employment Musculoskeletal Screen
Essential for determining if an individual can safely perform the required job demands. Individualized screening of upper extremity and lower extremity strength, flexibility and function based on the specific job demands required.

Wellness Education:
