Services for the Surgical Patient

Tomah Memorial Hospital's Surgical Department works to meet the needs of the community through a progressive and holistic approach to the patient's surgical experience. The department, with a high level of patient and staff satisfaction, offers the latest in surgical techniques for the rural health care setting.

General, laparoscopic, orthopedic, gynecological, ophthalmology (cataract surgery), urology and ear-nose-throat specialties are provided for patients in the community.

Orthopedic surgery was introduced in 1999, including total joint replacement surgery. In the past, patients had to travel out of town for this service. We are proud to be able to offer this to our community.

Even though our OR volume and staff members are small in number, we are able to provide state of the art services. New laparoscopy and arthroscopy equipment utilizing digital technology are an exceptional example of this.

Newly redesigned patient care rooms provide a relaxing atmosphere for our patients. We understand the anxiety and fear of pain that surgery can produce. Our aim is to provide quality, compassionate, informed care. We offer music, soft lighting, and complementary relaxation techniques, such as Reiki, to our patients.
