Tomah Memorial Hospital

Hospital Board

Tomah Memorial Hospital is a non-profit organization. The community has a vested interest in the operations of the hospital. The Board of Directors is then ultimately responsible to the communities in its patient service area.

The Chief Executive Officer of the organization is the individual designated by management contract with Brim Healthcare. Brim Healthcare and the Tomah Memorial Hospital Board of Directors select the Administrator who handles day-to-day operations at the hospital. Two Administrative Team members work directly with the Administrator. They are the Vice President of Finance and the Director of Nursing.

In addition to the management structure, there are liaison roles with the Hospital Foundation, Auxiliary, and the Medical Staff. The Hospital Administrator is responsible for maintaining that liaison and utilizing hospital support staff to facilitate common goals.

The corporation elects Board members at the annual meeting of the hospital held in March each year. There are ten Board members. Approximately 1/3 of the members are eligible for re-election each year. In order to be elected to the Board of Directors, a person must be a member of the hospital corporation. Anyone is eligible to become a corporation member and is required to pay an initial membership fee with annual dues. Membership in the corporation allows for voting at the annual meeting and eligibility to be nominated to serve on the Board of Directors.

The members of the Board of Directors are elected by the corporation and can serve two three-year terms. A two-term Board member cannot be re-elected to the Board for a period of one year. Members who fill unexpired terms may serve two full terms in addition to filling the unexpired term. Unexpired terms are filled by Board appointment.
